About Facial Vampire
Facial vampire treatment is a cosmetic procedure combining the wonders of microneedling and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments. Microneedling uses short, fine needles to puncture the skin, promoting its natural collagen and elastin production. After microneedling, PRP is applied topically to your skin. PRP is a concentrate of platelet-rich plasma protein derived from your blood. The punctures created by microneedling allow PRP to penetrate deeper into the skin. PRP has a concentrated amount of growth factors, helping tissues to repair and heal themselves.
Commonly Treated Skin Problems
- Fine lines
- Wrinkles
- Sagging skin
- Dry skin
- Acne scars
- Hyperpigmentation
- Sun damage
PREPARING FOR THE TREATMENT
Before going to your booked appointment, be sure to follow these skin preparation tips:
- Avoid body thinners or excessive sun exposure. This should be done at least a few weeks before the scheduled vampire facial.
- Avoid taking OTC medications.
- Stay hydrated.
- Make sure your skin is makeup-free and well-cleaned.
Treatment Details
The procedure begins with a blood draw. Your blood will be placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma from the red blood cells. Before the microneedling portion of the treatment, your face will be cleaned and treated with a topical numbing cream. Once the numbing cream has taken effect and the microneedling has been completed, the PRP synthesized from your blood will be rubbed on the treated area. The PRP should be left on the face for 12-24 hours to achieve optimal results.
Downtime and Recovery
Patients will notice dry, sensitive skin for the first few days after the treatment. Since the PRP will have to sit on your face for 12-24 hours, you won’t be able to resume your normal routine right away. You won’t also be able to wear makeup for the following couple of days.
COMMON SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects may vary from person to person, but the most common side effects associated with the treatment include:
- Redness
- Soreness/sensitivity
- Bruising
- Swelling
Take note that these side effects are not serious and will be gone after only a few days. If this may not be the case and symptoms persist, seek a professional.
