What can be treated with Stellar M22 IPL?

The Stellar IPL photo facial procedure effectively targets the skin’s brown and red pigments, as well as the bacteria that cause acne. In addition, it stimulates collagen production, leading to firmer skin and diminished fine lines and wrinkles. It is a versatile option for hair removal and can be performed on different areas of the body, such as the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.
The Stellar OPL treatment is effective in addressing over 30 skin concerns, including:

  • acne
  • birthmarks
  • broken capillaries
  • freckles
  • hyperpigmentation
  • leg veins
  • melasma
  • photodamage
  • rosacea
  • unwanted hair

The Stellar OPL has different settings to treat brown and red discoloration, making it suitable for individuals with different skin tones. It also cools the skin between pulses, reducing the risk of skin damage. The treatment usually lasts for 15-30 minutes depending on the area being treated and the severity of the concern.

While some individuals may feel a stinging sensation similar to a rubber band snapping during the treatment, it should not be painful. Providers typically recommend a series of treatments spaced four to six weeks apart to achieve optimal results.

What can be treated by Stellar M22 ResurFX?

ResurFX is a non-ablative fractional skin resurfacing laser that uses heat to stimulate the production of collagen, to rejuvenate skin. It’s used to treat textural issues and signs of aging like:

  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles, such as vertical lip lines around the mouth and crow’s-feet
  • Sun-damaged skin, including brown spots related to sun exposure
  • Mild acne scarring

The laser creates controlled microdamage to a small fraction of skin—about 6% on average—which minimizes side effects and downtime (compared to ablative lasers that remove the skin’s top layer).

Unlike other fractionated lasers, ResurFX requires just one pass, so each treatment session is quick (only 15–30 minutes). Continuous contact cooling helps keep skin comfortable.

You may have a little swelling in the treatment area for a day or two, followed by some slight inflammation for up to five days, but you can apply makeup and return to your daily activities right away.

You’ll see some immediate improvement, but three to five sessions are usually recommended. The benefits continue for six months after the last treatment as new collagen and elastin develop.

What to expect after Resurfx treatment?

After ReSurFx treatment, the skin may appear red and slightly swollen, similar to a mild sunburn. You may also experience some mild discomfort, such as a feeling of warmth or tingling in the treated area. The degree of redness and swelling can vary depending on the intensity of the treatment, the area treated, and your skin type. The redness and swelling might last for several hours to 3 days for majority of people , The skin may also feel rough or dry for a short time, so it is important to keep it well moisturized.

In the weeks following the treatment, you should start to see improvements in the appearance of your skin, such as a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture, and a brighter, more youthful-looking complexion. These results can continue to improve over the course of several months as your skin continues to heal and regenerate.

It is important to note that the appearance of your skin after ReSurFx treatment can vary depending on the specific goals of the treatment and the individual characteristics of your skin. Your provider can give you a more detailed idea of what to expect based on your specific situation.

POST TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESURFX AND PHOTOFRACTIONAL TREATMENT

You have just received a non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing treatment. Please read the following post care instruction carefully and follow them closely. Call if any questions or concerns.

NOTE: During the healing process (3-5 days) NO ACTIVE PRODUCTS should be used on the skin as they may cause irritation to the treated area. This includes all of the following: any form of retinol, hydroquinone, salicylic/glycolic/lactic acid, vitamin C, or Benzoyl Peroxide. Do not use anything abrasive like a washcloth, or Clarisonic brush during the healing process as premature removal of dead skin may compromise overall results.

  • DAY 1: Skin may be mildly swollen, particularly around the eyes. Do not be alarmed. Swelling is normal and expected. Wash with gentle cleanser twice a day; apply gentle moisturizer as needed, and a physical SPF 30. Mineral makeup can be used if desired.
  • DAY 2: Skin might feel rough. Continue with gentle wash twice daily, moisturizer as needed and sunblock daily. Make-up can be used as desired.
  • DAY 3: Mild flaking is expected and normal. Avoid scrubbing or picking dry skin as it may result in irritation and compromise the overall result. Continue with gentle cleanser twice daily, moisturize as needed and daily sunblock. Makeup can be used if desired.
  • DAY 4: Skin will still appear dry and mild peeling will continue, face mask can be applied x 20 min and gently removed with a warm washcloth. Avoid picking and scrubbing. Continue with gentle cleanser twice daily, moisturize as needed and sunblock.
  • DAY 5: Mild peeling should probably be almost completely resolved. Skin will feel softer, yet may be sensitive to sunlight. Important to continue with sunblock daily, and may resume active products, if cleared by your practitioner. (i.e. retinols, AHA’s, vitamin c etc.)

NOTE: Healing process may take longer, as much as up to two weeks on nonfacial treatment areas (i.e. legs, arms, chest).

What to expect?

Before treatment

You will have a consultation with a qualified provider to discuss your skin concerns and determine if IPL is the right treatment for you and may be advised to avoid sun exposure and certain skincare products in the days leading up to your appointment.

During treatment

You will wear protective eyewear, and your provider will apply a cooling gel to the treatment area. The device will emit short bursts of light energy, which may feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin.

After treatment

You may experience mild redness, swelling, or darkening of the treated area, which should subside within a few hours to a few days. It is important to follow aftercare instructions, including avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen. You may require several treatments spaced a few weeks apart to achieve optimal results.

IPL Photo facial FAQs

How does IPL photo facial work?
IPL photo facial works by emitting short bursts of light energy that target melanin (the pigment that gives color to the skin) and hemoglobin (the pigment in blood vessels). The light energy heats these pigments, which are then absorbed by the body’s natural processes, leaving the skin with a more even tone and texture.
